Use case · Hide prices
Hide prices on Shopify until customers log in.
Locksmith can hide prices and add-to-cart buttons on locked products without theme code. Shoppers can still browse the products. Guests see a sign-in prompt where the buy buttons were, and customers who meet your conditions, usually a customer tag, see prices and can buy.
The setup
Prices for approved buyers only.
- Lock
Your products, with "Hide price" and "Hide buy buttons" turned on.
- Key
One condition: the customer is tagged with
approved. - Everyone else
Sees the product without a price, and a "Log in to purchase" prompt instead of the buttons.

How to hide prices on Shopify with Locksmith
Lock the products
Create a lock on the products whose prices you want to hide, such as a collection, specific products, or all products with a tag.
Add a key
Add a key with the condition that should reveal prices: "customer is signed in" for any account, or "customer is tagged with" for approved accounts only.
Turn on price and add-to-cart hiding
In the lock's Price & add-to-cart hiding card, turn on Hide price and Hide buy buttons. Locksmith scans your published theme and reports whether each setting is compatible.
Choose what replaces the buttons
The lock's message content appears where the buy buttons were, such as a sign-in button or a passcode prompt, styled to match your theme.
Save
Locksmith updates your theme and checks it again on later installs, so theme updates are picked up automatically.
Full details in the guide: Hiding product prices and the add to cart button.
Coverage
Where prices are hidden.
Hiding applies wherever your theme shows locked products through its own templates. Unlocked products aren't affected.
- Product pages
- Collection and search result grids
- Featured-product sections
- Quick-view popups
Know the limits
- The cart and checkout always show prices. Hide buy buttons whenever you hide prices.
- Prices may still appear in the page source, because SEO markup and analytics tools include them.
- Prices shown by other apps, such as page builders, currency converters, and wishlists, aren't hidden automatically.
- A few themes have no safe place to hide prices automatically, and Locksmith says so instead of guessing. Our support team can help you set them up by hand.
Questions
Hiding prices: common questions
Can I show prices only to logged-in customers on Shopify?
Yes. Lock your products, add a key with the condition "customer is signed in", and turn on price hiding. Guests see a sign-in prompt, and signed-in customers see prices.
Do I need to edit my theme to hide prices?
For most themes, no. Locksmith scans your theme and adds price and add-to-cart hiding for you. If your theme isn't compatible, Locksmith tells you, and our support team can help you set it up by hand.
Can different customers see different prices?
Locksmith controls who can see what, not the price itself. For price tiers, give each tier its own products or collection with its own prices, and lock each one to that tier's customer tag.
Can customers still buy a product if prices are hidden?
Only customers who meet the lock's conditions see the buy buttons. To stop purchases through cart links too, use checkout validation, which only lets customers with the right tags buy products with matching tags.
